Prior to the Highlanders becoming the main part of
the cattle business we had success in the cross cattle arena with
numerous wins at local and national events including the Royal
Highland Show, The Winter Fair and Royal Smithfield.
We still have a
small herd of Charolais cattle that we have also had success with in
previous years, including the Female championship at the
annual Perth Bull sales and overall Champion at the Spring
Show at Thainstone. Females have sold up to 6000gns at our herd
reduction in 2006.
We also have around 500 Blackfaced ewes and
followers on the farm which graze the higher hill areas. This is
again a closed flock, with rams being purchased annually. Lambs are sold either store or fat at Thainstone Market in
Inverurie with the best ewe lambs being kept for stock replacements.
